今回はマカオについて
皆様、マカオはご存知でしょうか？漢字で書くと『澳門』。
中華人民共和国マカオ特別行政区、通称マカオは、中国の特別行政区の一つになります。
中国本土の南海岸に突き出た半島がマカオ半島です。
マカオは1999年までポルトガルの海外領土でした。
西欧文化の影響を色濃くうけた植民地時代の遺構が数多く残っており、2005年、多くの歴史的建造物などがマカオ歴史地区という名前でユネスコの世界遺産に登録されています。
マカオと言えばやはり、カジノ。「東洋のラスベガス」ともいわれていますが、現在では本家のラスベガスを抜いて世界一のカジノ大国となっています。

実は石川つづれとマカオは意外な接点もあります。
約、10年前、15人程のマカオの版画アーティストがつづれ織りの見学に来られたことがあります。
若いアーティストが多く、一見、派手な印象もありましたが皆さん、とても穏やかで、真剣に私たちの話を聞いていただいていた印象は今でもしっかり記憶しています。

そんな10年前の出会いが今日まで続き、この度のマカオプロジェクトへとつながっているのです。

This time about Macau

The Macau Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, commonly known as Macau, is one of the special administrative regions of China.
The peninsula protruding from the south coast of mainland China is the Macau peninsula.
Macau was a Portuguese territory until 1999.
Many of the remains of the colonial period have been influenced by Western culture. In 2005, many historical buildings were registered as UNESCO World Heritage sites under the name Macau Historic District.
Macau is still a casino. It is said to be “Oriental Las Vegas”, but now it has overtaken the original Las Vegas to become the world’s best casino powerhouse.

In fact, Ishikawa spelling and Macau have unexpected contact points.
About 10 years ago, about 15 Macao print artists came to visit the weaving.
There were many young artists, and at first glance, there was a flashy impression, but everyone is still very calm, and I still remember the impression that they were listening to us seriously.

Such an encounter 10 years ago continues until today, and it has led to this Macau project.
